The ultimate goal of prosthetic treatment in the
aesthetic zone is to restore nature as much as possible. The functional
and aesthetic success of implant treatment in the anterior zone
depends not only on the quality of the prosthetic restoration, but
also on the position and stability of the soft and hard tissues.
Often, when teeth have already been extracted, three dimensional
soft and hard tissue deficiencies have to be restored in order to
optimize the future prosthetic rehabilitation. The ideal means of
minimizing bone resorption ,and thus optimizing soft tissue contour
and stability after extraction is immediate implant placement and
immediate loading.
This lecture will focus on various surgical aspects (implant positioning
and implant diameter, soft tissue augmentation and modifying biotype,
bone grafting) and the prosthetic treatment modalities (abutment
selection and abutment shape, submergence profile, abutment biocompatibility)
for immediate implant placement and loading in the esthetic zone.
