  Preservative approach of implant surgery

Peri-implant tissues may undergo immediate or differed reorganisations that are perfectly avoidable. If they happen, they may endanger results in the esthetic zone and medium term prognosis of posterior implants.

Many parameters may affect tissue remodelling, most of which depend on our clinical approach, on the treatment plan adopted, on the prosthetic technicalities as well as on the choice of the implant system and on the form of surgery used.

This lecture will attempt to demonstrate the importance of some of these parameters, especially on the present surgical techniques called "preservation techniques" where the absence of flap elevation significantly minimises tissue traumatism. This type of surgery cannot compromise the presence of mucous membrane and usage of a punch is often contra-indicated.

Clinical cases, especially from Nobel Direct will illustrate our comments.
